Let's Speak the Truth

Covington Catholic, Cuomo and the Cardinal

A few weeks have now passed since the defamation orchestra started to play their slanderous tune against a group of Catholic High School kids. A group of kids whose mortal sin, in the eyes of the media, was to dare and wear the well-known hats of President Trump’s campaign “Make America Great Again”. Their other deadly sins were being conservative white kids marching for the unborn and refusing to be intimidated by two radical race groups, the “Black Hebrew Israelites” and the attention seeking Native Americans and their leader Nathan Phillips. The video that surfaced was a pure hatchet job on the integrity of these kids. Selectively edited to show one of the children, Nick Sandmann, in a stare down with Philips. The narrative that the media decided on was to claim he was “smirking” at Philips and that somehow this was indicative of the group’s aggression towards these poor misunderstood people. One reporter on CNN went so far, without having seen the video, to claim that these kids were taunting “4 bible quoting African Americans” and “threatening the peaceful Native Americans”. The video in question saturated every social media platform, television station, satellite and terrestrial radio channel.

The highly edited video ensnared not only liberal groups, looking for something to come after conservatives about, but also prominent leaders of the Catholic Church and well known conservatives. Within hours of its release the Diocese of Covington issued a statement of condemnation against their own students. Writers over at the National Review, who should know better, (but after their Never Trump campaign in 2016 that is up for debate) were quick to pile on. Deputy Managing Editor Nicholas Frankovich wrote the following; “ As for the punitively Catholic Students from Covington, they might as well have just spit on the cross and got it over with” Doubling down on this journalistic dereliction of duty is the architect of NR’s “Never Trump” lunacy,  editor Rich Lowry.  He tweeted “…This behavior is opposed to the Church’s teaching on the dignity and respect of the human person”.    So a spliced video compressed to 90 seconds is enough to condemn these kids, at least according to these virtue signalers over at National Review. Lowry is the same guy who claimed he opposed Trump “because of his temperament and character”. Oh the irony of this joker to anoint himself the keeper of all things sacred and virtuous, as he jumped on board the smear train. Such outstanding personal and journalistic temperament and character you possess Mr. Lowry!  As the real outstanding conservative Mark Steyn so eloquently stated; “The writers at National Review are simply Kathy Griffin with some more 3 syllable words”.

The release of the full video sent these folks into a tizzy. The “Black Israelites” were using such vile and taunting language it cannot be repeated here. (But it is okay, according to the mainstream press, because they are black…funny how that works that four men can call high school kids “faggots and crackers” but a chant (that never happened) of “Build that Wall” is a sign of evil).  They couldn’t get their twitter accounts up fast enough to delete prior tweets and issue half-assed apologies. They finally realized their own actions were discredited and the juice here was definitely not worth the squeeze.

If only people cared for babies as they do for animals the world would be a great place……

All kidding aside, the real issue was these students were singled out for they were Pro-life and it was the perfect way for the media to distract from the extremely large crowd assembled with newfound optimism for the cause. They were there to stand up for the unborn. They weren’t racist, rather the exact opposite. They were there to be living witnesses to the Gospel and to defend all the unborn children slaughtered daily across the country. Children that are majority minority and female. What happened to those kids was simply outrageous. The fact that they were immediately condemned by even their own diocese and so-called conservative outlets proves just how dysfunctional the church and the intelligentsia have become. People who should have known better allowed themselves to succumb to the tactics of the left, and abandoned the students in their hour of need.  It wasn’t the students who “spit on the cross” rather it was the adults who abandoned the children much like the apostles who abandoned Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Looks like a baby…..

Pro-Life enthusiasm has been growing across the nation because of the election of President Trump. He has appointed true conservatives to the various courts and has signed legislation that seeks to protect the unborn as much as his office can do.  While good news this is for the movement, the left decided they needed to throw an inside fastball right at the heads of the Pro-life folks in the batter’s box. The ever arrogant and pompous governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, and the radical legislature put forward a bill, the week after the March for Life, that not only decriminalized any abortion but took away any and every protection on the books for any unborn child. Any child can now be slaughtered in the womb moments before arrival if the mother just decides “Hey this ain’t for me”.

A “doctor” will be brought in who then gathers instruments that are designed to amputate the child limb from limb with the grand finale of sniping the spine of the baby and then crushing their skull. All the while the baby is literally screaming in the womb from agony. The last part of all this is a puzzle to put the baby back together again on a table to “make sure they got it all”. The other alternative is to inject the baby with a lethal dose of digoxin to inflict a heart attack in the child and then induce the mother to deliver a still born baby. If the baby survives, these kind folks will leave the child on the table and let them suffer unattended until they die from their weakened heart failing them.   Are you outraged yet? Did you find that hard to reconcile and process? For the folks on the left this is simply a means to an undefined status of “equality”. To them, the simple pursuit of anything should not and cannot be thwarted by a mere child. If they need to be murdered, well so be it. If you think this is rare don’t kid yourself. It happens in 10 percent of all abortions. If you think the other 90 percent are just fine than perhaps some research will uncover the truth of it all. Babies are being burned alive by saline, ripped limb from limb, skulls crushed and suctioned until they come apart and left to die at all stages. All this celebrated by the demonic government of New York and other states.

A ceremony signing of this into law in NY was met with the hoopla of a walk off home-run. The Freedom Tower, the site of over 2,750 deaths on 9/11, was lit up in the color pink to celebrate this. (Ironically down below at the fountain is a plaque to the memory of 11 children who died in the womb along with their mothers on that day). Andrew Cuomo has made a political calculation, worse than his own father, that to sanction the hits on the unborn is politically expedient in his anticipated run for President. He is appealing to the lowest common denominator in people. An appeal that seems to be backfiring on him as the reality of what they passed comes into focus. Just last week a man who stabbed and killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child (5 months along) in New York, had his charges reduced from two counts of homicide down to one. The child has no protection in Andrew Cuomo’s New York. A New York that he stated “Pro-life people are not welcome here”. Honestly the question is “Who the hell are you Andrew to have the unmitigated gall to tell us we aren’t welcome?” The same guy who declared “America was never that Great”.  He is severely defective in character and disturbed. A narcissist who needs to be impeached for his utter disregard for human life and a man who needs to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.

Grinning over the signing of the law sanctioning Infanticide
Contrast to this of a bill to defend all human life…surrounded by innocence…

This brings us to the Catholic Church and the leadership, or lack of, by Cardinal Dolan as it relates to safeguarding the integrity of the faith and defending the core tenants of Catholicism. In all my years of watching the debate of life I have never seen so many Catholics stand up and declare their outrage as with this latest law. Folks from all backgrounds have inundated Cardinal Dolan with insistent pleas that Cuomo be excommunicated from the Catholic faith. One would think this would be a slam dunk with plenty of cover to order this, but we would be wrong. Dolan allowed his political side to override his moral judgments.

To watch him try and explain away why it “wasn’t prudent” was an embarrassment. His verbal contortions were cringe worthy. He openly doubted the affect it would have on Cuomo to change his position. He framed it in a way that the lot of us were simply “seeking revenge”. Doubling down on this drivel, Dolan went the usual wishy washy route of asking “What would Jesus do?” Well I will tell you that I think I know what Jesus would do. If Jesus found himself so irate at the money changers in a temple that he flipped their tables over and proceeded to take a cord and whip them, I would think it a strong bet excommunication would be the mildest thing he would do. Perhaps Dolan fails to realize that excommunication has 2 purposes. One is to put the person excommunicated on notice that they are banned from the sacraments of the faith until they repent. (For the benefit of saving their soul). The other is to serve notice to others, that what is cause for excommunication applies to all, so if you follow in the steps of this person you will suffer the same fate.  Imagine Pelosi, Biden and the rest of these phony Catholics trying to court the Catholic vote as excommunicates? That alone would help stifle these calls for an ever expanding death culture. Dolan does not understand the magnitude of his office or he chooses to downplay it in order to not have to make the tough calls. When asked why he wouldn’t do it he remarked recently “I am a fat balding old man….I do not scare the governor”. With that he summed up his cowardice and his incompetence to hold his office.

While Cuomo may not fear him personally he sure as hell would fear the blow-back from being excommunicated by a sitting Cardinal of the Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New York. If Pope Francis can excommunicate Italian mobsters in Italy for crime and extortion the Cardinal can surely excommunicate a governor for sanctioning infanticide not matter how fat, bald and old he is. (By the way even the mafia doesn’t kill children). There is a really troubling future on the horizon in the Catholic Church when folks like this are in charge. We can only pray that the leadership at the top is replaced and the faith we hold dear is restored to its past glory.

Don’t worry Andrew, the Al Smith dinner invite is still there for you..

It’s a shame I need to educate a Cardinal but here is the Canon Law citation which is all he would have needed to fortify his position of excommunicating the Governor, had he chosen to do so:

1364 of the Code of Canon Law of 1983, the heretic as well as the apostate from the Faith and the schismatic incur automatic excommunication, a.k.a. latae sentenciae excommunication or ipso facto excommunication.

  • Brian. Spot on!
Cuomo and Dolan need to go!
Real leaders lead in right direction!
Kudos to Iowa’s governor for having a conscience and backbone. Sadly many of our leaders are lacking in this area and are more preoccupied with their rise in status/power…or so they think!👍 The church needs to start leading the flock. Its job is to Save souls and lives not be politically correct so money keeps coming in!
